What do you love about the Broadband industry?
The constant evolution of the industry and the impact it has on connecting people have always drawn me in. There is always something new around the corner, and it’s exciting to be part of technology that helps connect the world.
How has the industry evolved over your career, looking back what is most surprising?
When I started, the industry was still heavily reliant on twisted-pair networks using ADSL and VDSL, where speeds around 50 Mbps were pushing networks to their limits. In just over a decade, we’ve moved into multi-gig fiber networks with fiber-optic backbones. It’s mind-boggling to think about what the next decade will bring.
What does your favorite Saturday look like?
Spending time with family and friends on the back deck, grilling out, and listening to good music.
What hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?
I enjoy spending time outdoors — fishing, hunting, hiking, and even working in the yard.
Tell us something about yourself people may not know?
I was a Karate and Jiu-Jitsu coach for several years at the studio where my oldest daughter trained. I had the opportunity to coach athletes who represented Team USA in world tournaments held in Canada, Ireland, and the United States through one of the organizations affiliated with the studio.
What was your 10 year-old-self’s dream job?
I wanted to be either a police officer or an astronaut.
